KPBOIT finalising mega road project

LAHORE  - The KP Board of Investment and Trade, with a view to implement the vision of PTI government, has initiated a 22km long route, dedicated both for rapid bus service as well as ambulances, passing through the middle of Peshawar, which will start operations right in first quarter of 2015.  The development project in the KPK will not only ensure the provision of rapid transport to the citizens but also mark an important milestone in development of healthcare facilities in the province, setting example for other provinces of the country.
This was announced by KPBOIT Vice Chairman, Mohsin Aziz, who observed that the feasibility and technical work of the dedicated route, which will originate from Nasir Pur and culminate at Kharkhano Market Hayatabad, is under progress.
He said that the proposed 50-feet wide road, very adjacent to the Grand Trunk Road, will be integrated to almost all main arteries of the provincial capital, touching all major residential areas, commercial centers and business hubs. The chief of KPBOIT maintained that the road, reflecting will cover dozens of residential and commercial localities along the city’s main GT Road in the heart of the city, linking together all major hospitals of the city.
All hospitals reach-out timings will be reduced to almost half, besides lessening travel time of 22km to just 45 minutes from the present duration of one and a half hours, he claimed.
He said the KPBOIT will hire the whole land on a lease for a long period and build the track within shortest period. The other infrastructure and rolling of the busses will be arranged by the private sector. The immediate plan is to acquire around 30 to 40 trailer busses, having extra luggage space, which will continue to ply on the road after every five minutes to facilitate the commuters. He added that Board of Investment is also planning to arrange parking lots for middle class commuters at every stopover to park their vehicles including cycles, motorbikes and cars.
The Pishawar Rapid Bus Service has come as a dignified rescuer to the poor and middle class, especially in the face of not-so-good existing transport facilities and credit also goes to the Chief Minister Pervez Khattak in this regard, he added.  Mohsin Aziz, appreciating the efforts of the KPK CM, said that the Dedicated Route is fully backed and supported by him, which will provide a safe, cheaper, quicker and respectable ride option for all, particularly for women and students.
He said that the KPBOIT-envisioned Dedicated Route is another step of the PTI government for providing comfortable, quality and economical traveling facilities to the public through a modern transport system.
