Zubair invites Chinese varsities to set up campuses in Education City

KARACHI - Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair has said the proposed education expo in April this year will be an important milestone in the education sector in Pakistan, as it will bring together all stakeholders.

He said this while talking to a delegation from China. The governor said that presence of more than 100 Chinese educational institutions would make it a successful endeavour. He assured his full cooperation and assistance in holding of this expo.

While praising China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the governor said that CPEC was another proof of close bilateral relations and friendship of two countries which was being cemented by every passing moment.

The governor offered cooperation of public sector universities of the province for promoting the cause of CPEC and said that “we are ready to assist in this regard by arranging seminars, workshops lectures and training sessions”.

He also offered Chinese universities to establish their campuses in education city as it would be another milestone in promotion of higher education in Sindh. He said that Karachi was the economic hub of Pakistan and after establishment of law and order in this megapolis there was a very conducive atmosphere of investment. Efforts are being made to return Karachi to its past glory by holding social, cultural educational, recreational and sports activities here, he added.

Citing the example of recently held international media conference, the governor Sindh said that an International Squash Tournament and Pakistan International Film Festival would be held in next two months, prior to education expo. These events are aimed at making Karachi the vibrant city of lights of recent past, he added

He said that CPEC was a game changer in real sense, not only for China and Pakistan but for the entire region. China is an economic superpower and Pakistan could learn a lot from its experiences in every sector, he added.

The governor was informed that both institutions had signed memorandums of understanding for promotion of education with Bahria University, DHA Suffa University, Iqra University, Sir Syed University and Indus University, while the same with IBA was in the process of negotiations.

It was said that as many as 14,000 students were enrolled in Rizhao. It is providing education in Finance, Business Management, Engineering, Tourism and other sectors. The governor was informed that Binzhou has an enrolment of over 15,000 students with 949 faculty members and it has 41 departments in Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Medicine, Finance, Architecture, Arts and Navigation.
