Govt Post Graduate College Attock completes 100 years

ATTOCK - On the occasion of completion of hundred years of Government Post Graduate College Attock, Principal Professor Majid Bhatti said that centenary celebrations will be held in the college this year along with an annual sports competition after a long break of almost 10 years.

According to the principal, more than 2,500 students are studying free of cost from intermediate to masters level in various programmes including Pre Eng., Pre Medical, ICS, BS (English, Economics, Maths, Physics, and Chemistry), MSc (Chemistry, Physics, Maths) and MA (English). While talking about the ratio of students, the professor said that currently there are 80 percent girls studying at masters and BS levels.

Cell phones are completely banned and the college pays special attention to the character-building and punctuality of the students along with other co-curricular activities, he informed.

The college has 63 professors with PhD and M.Phil degrees against the sanctioned posts of 109 – quite less according to the needs. However, efforts are being made to impart quality education despite the shortage of teaching staff, he said.

While the college has facilities of science and computer labs and a library, there is still a dire need for at least 20 additional classrooms along with at least one more bus as there is only one bus facilitating more than 70 students coming from Hazro. Moreover, government hasn’t provided any security guards due to which security duties are being performed by non-teaching staff, he said.
