ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA) has claimed that it was finalising all the necessary arrangements to set up four sasta bazaars at G-7/2, Bhara Kau, Koral and Rawat and 35 fair price shops in the urban and rural areas of capital for providing food items to the citizens at cheaper rates during the month of Ramazan.
A spokesman of the administration said that Chief Commissioner Islamabad Tariq Mahmood Pirzada had directed the administration to provide maximum relief to the people and enforce strict price control mechanism during Ramazan.
According to details, 16 price checking teams headed by the assistant commissioners, magistrates and special price magistrates are also being formed for carrying out daily price checking in their respective jurisdictions during Ramazan. A price complaint cell with telephone no 9261504 is also being set up in the office of Additional Deputy Commissioner (General). The administration has asked the shopkeepers to display the rate list of fruits and vegetables and charge the fixed rates.
The spokesman said that the rates of food items at the sasta bazaars would be lesser than the rates of weekly bazaars and food department has been directed to ensure the quality of food items at the sasta bazaars and stalls of those found involved in selling sub-standard food items or over charging would be cancelled. The food department of Islamabad is fixing the rates of fruits and vegetables at Sabzi Mandi (fruit and vegetable market) on daily basis and list of rates is being provided to the shopkeepers for display and implementation. Sasta bazaars would also have outlets of utility stores. Four mobile utility stores, services would also be operational to meet the demand of consumers. Similarly, food items like ghee, flour, sugar, basin and pulses would be provided at an ex-mill rates to the consumers at fair price shops. Sasta bazaars and fair price shops would be made functional from the first of Ramadan.
Agencies adds: Assistant Commissioner (City), Muhammad Ali has reviewed Ramazan Sasta Bazaar arrangements to be set up at Aabpara, G-7/2 during Ramazan in order to provide food items at cheaper rates than those of weekly bazaars.
It was decided that the stalls in the bazaar would be allotted on the basis of previous experience as endorsed by the Food Department Islamabad.
Number of stalls will be from 80 to 100 and a non-refundable fee of Rs 4500 would be charged. Last date of application for stalls is fixed as July 16.
Food Department of ICT will enforce the rate list of food items and quality of food items will be ensured by the stallholders. Police Station, Aabpara will ensure the security arrangements at the bazaar.
Meanwhile, Tehsil Management Authority (TMA) Rawal Town has finalised preparations for setting up five economical Ramzan Bazaars in the city.
The steps have been taken on the directives of Administration Rawal Town, Saif Anwar Jappa. The bazaar would be set up in Liaquat Bagh, on Benazir Bhutto Road near Nawaz Sharif Park, Haidri Chowk, Rehmanabad and Committee Chowk.
In a meeting chaired by Town Municipal Officer, Chaudhry Liaquat Ali, suggestions were finalised to make these bazaars low cost and it had been decided to post the personnel of all union council in these Ramzan bazaars.
Meanwhile, Islamabad administration and police, taking strict security measures in the federal capital, have decided to ensure opening of only one door of mosques during the holy month of Ramazan.
Security would be beefed up across the city to ensure peace during Ramadan.
Only one gate of mosques will be used for exit, while the loudspeaker act would be followed strictly.
A minimum of two security guards will be deployed at mosques and those coming to pray will have to go through metal detectors while negligence in the performance of duties will no longer be tolerated.
Special security arrangements will be made during sehar, iftar and taraveeh hours.
