Haroon going to Islamabad for ‘consultations’

UNITED NATIONS - Sources at the Pakistan Mission to the UN in New York Friday declined comments about Ambassador Abdullah Hussain Haroon’s reported resignation, saying he is leaving for Islamabad in a couple of days for ‘consultations’ at the Foreign Office.
These sources were asked to comment on reports in Pakistani media that Ambassador Haroon had tendered his resignation owing to differences with some government policies.
“All we know is that he is soon going to Islamabad for consultations at the Foreign Office,” one source said. Ambassador Haroon, a former speaker of the Sindh Assembly, was appointed as Pakistan’s permanent representative to the UN in September 2008.
