PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Governor, Barrister Masood Kausar said Friday that uneducated and untrained population was a major problem for every society, so it was a need of the hour to inform people of problems created by a large population.
This he said while addressing a ceremony held in connection with ‘World Population Day’ at Governor’s House, Peshawar. The ceremony was also attended by ACS, Fata, Secretary Social Sector Fata, Deputy Director Social Welfare Fata Dr Lal Zari and others.
The governor gave Rs 1,00,000 cash prize to the participants for different performances on the occasion and distributed certificates among the employees of Social Welfare Department, Fata. He said there should be a proper gap in the birth of children, as it keeps a mother healthy and only a healthy woman can give birth to a healthy child.
He said a nation with limited resources cannot afford uneducated and untrained population, adding that everyone should cooperate in the struggle to spread awareness among the people about population welfare programme. He said no work is possible without cooperation and participation of the all the people in a society.
He said the issue of increasing unskilled population had not been considered a major problem in the past, adding that his government was fully devoted to spread awareness in the people about the problem.
He said that Reproductive Health Services Centers, Mobile service Units and Family Welfare Programs is the need of the day to educate the people about increasing population and it affects on the health of a mother and her child. The Governor said that department of Fata Welfare Population is playing its best role in this regard and said that it should continue its program with the same pace to achieve its goals in Fata as soon as possible.
