Seven historical buildings on The Mall to be restored


LAHORE – The City District Government (CDGL) has decided to renovate historical buildings situated on The Mall and initially seven such buildings have been selected for this purpose.
This was stated by Lahore Division Commissioner Jawwad Rafique Malik and District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal while presiding over a meeting regarding the renovation of historic buildings on The Mall on Friday.
The meeting also reviewed various other buildings for renovation, of which seven were selected. The team decided to take steps to renovate them one by one and bring them back to their old grandeur, after preparing a comprehensive work programme. The work will start after the monsoon season.  The meeting was attended by architects, executive district officer (MS) and other officers concerned. Addressing the meeting, the commissioner said renovation of the historic buildings was a challenging job and this project would not only beautify The Mall but also preserve our heritage.
The DCO directed the EDO (MS) to prepare a summary for the renovation. The proposal to establish a revolving fund for the project was also reviewed.
POLIO CAMPAIGN: Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Khwaja Salman Rafique and DCO Noorul Amin Mengal inaugurated the polio campaign by immunizing polio drops to children in the cantonment area. EDO (health), assistant commissioner (Cantt) and other officers of the CDGL were also present on the occasion. Khwaja Salman Rafique and the DCO inaugurated the anti-polio campaign by immunizing polio drops in General Hospital Cantt.
Rafique said we had to work against polio with zeal and zest, and all segments of society must participate in the campaign starting from July 16. The DCO said the anti-polio campaign would start from the cantonment area with cooperation of the army.
“All departments of the CDGL will work for achieving 100 per cent target in the three-day polio campaign,” he informed.
