Two die in wall collapse, man ends life in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD - Two persons were killed when a wall of a factory collapsed near Sumundri road on Sunday. According to police, two persons, who have yet to be identified, were passing through a street behind Alpha Fabrics near Samundri road when its wall collapsed due to strong wind. Both the persons died on the spot. D-Type police reached the spot and shifted the bodies to the Allied Hospital.

In another incident, a man committed suicide, in Small Industrial Estate near Kalma Chowk here on Monday. According to police, Ameer Abdullah (30) ended his life by hanging himself from a pole due to unknown reason. Police were looking into the matter. Meanwhile, a young man was found dead in Rakh Branch Canal, in the limits of Madina Town police station. Police said on Sunday that some passersby spotted the corpse floating in Rakh Branch Canal near Abdullahpur and informed the area police. The police reached the spot and fished out the body and later sent to the mortuary for postmortem. Investigation was underway.

5 held for selling kites

Police arrested five shopkeepers and recovered more than 2000 kites from their possession during past 24 hours. Police arrested 5 shopkeepers including Zeeshan and Sajid of Mannanwala Stop, Saleem of Kabotranwala Chowk, Zeeshan of Madan Pura and Owais of Millat Chowk red-handed while dealing in kites. The police also recovered more than 2000 kites and other paraphernalia from their possession. Further investigation was underway.

Awareness walk held to mark Child Labour Day

The Labor Department arranged an awareness walk on Sunday to mark the World Child Labour Day. Director Labor Malik Munawar Awan led the walk which started from Labour Office. The participants, holding banners and placards, marched up to Jail Road. Speaking on the occasion, Director Labour said that child labour was an offence and the Punjab government, on the special directions of Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, was taking sold steps to eliminate child labour from the province.
