Malik-led Asad to feature in Westbury Tennis in Karachi

LAHORE - Asad Zaman, a brilliant student of renowned coach Rashid Malik (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz), will feature as top seed in U-18 and U-16 categories in the 19th Westbury National Seniors & Juniors Tennis Championship, commencing today (Saturday) at Modern Club Karachi. The Westbury Group-sponsored event has received 150 plus entries in various events from Lahore, Multan, Hyderabad and Karachi. Asad Zaman (Lahore) is top seed in Juniors 18 and U-16 Singles, Amir Mazari (Lahore) top seed in U-14 Singles, Zohaib Afzal (Lahore) top seed in U-12 Singles, Rashid Ali Bachani (Hyderabad) top seed in U-10 Singles. The Para Sports Pakistan is providing technical assistance for the wheelchair event. Talking to The Nation, Asad Zaman thanked Tariq Zaman, CEO of Ali Embroidery Mills, for his all-out support that helped him excel as top junior player of the country. Rashid Malik also thanked Tariq Zaman for sponsoring Asad’s Karachi tour. “This is a great help indeed for a deserving kid and I hope Asad will perform well in this national event and try to win more laurels. He will also play internationally in coming years as he is a shinning student and passionate tennis player, who has bright future ahead. What he only needs is all-out support from govt. and corporate sector that can help him win ATF and ITF titles for Pakistan.”
