MIRPUR (AJK) - AJK Prime Minister Ch Abdul Majeed and former Prime Minister Barrister Sultan Mahmood Ch have expressed deep sense of shock and grief over the death of Mumtaz Hamid Rao, an eminent journalist and former Director News PTV and the son of eminent Kashmir freedom movement activist, author, intellectual and journalist late Abdul Hamid Nizami, who passed away in Islamabad after brief illness the other day. He was 72. In a message of condolence delivered to his younger brother, senior Kashmiri Journalist AH Rao and other members of his bereaved family, the AJK Prime Minister prayed for the rest of the departed soul in eternal peace and grant of courage to the bereaved family to bear the irrepressible loss. Paying rich tribute to the departed soul, Prime Minister Majeed described the death of Mumtaz Hamid Rao a great loss to the nation and particularly to the Kashmir freedom struggle, who, he added, projected the national Kashmir cause and the Kashmiris indigenous struggle for freedom through the best of professional abilities and high intellect. He appreciated his meritorious services being a seasoned journalist and one of the pioneers of state-run PTV and video journalism in Pakistan. Former Prime Minister of AJK Barrister Sultan Mahmood Saturday visited the residence of AH Rao and offered fateha for the departed soul. He expressed sympathies with the bereaved family of late Mumtaz Hamid Rao over his demise. Mumtaz Hamid Rao was survived by a widow and four sons. - Wing Commander Faisal Mumtaz Rao, Economist Prof Ali Mumtaz Rao, Major Omer Mumtaz Rao and UK-based journalist Raza Mumtaz Rao.
