LAHORE - Emerging tennis player Amir Mazari has departed for Nepal to represent Pakistan in ATF U-14 events there. Talking to The Nation before his departure, Amir, who is one of the finest athletes of Aitchison College and pride of the Mazari family, which is giving great support and sponsoring future tennis star, said: “My main goals are to become unbeatable in Pakistan like Aqeel Khan. I am also a fan of Rafael Nadal. In age of 13, I will start playing ITFs and step by step, I will try to reach international stage. I have worked hard under my mentor and coach, Rashid Malik, and keen to get more benefit from such a legend of tennis.” Amir has recently has recently won Nayza All Pakistan Junior Tennis U-12 title. His tennis journey began at Gymkhana when he was 3-year-old and played tennis there for three years. When admitted to Aitchison College, he was selected for the junior tennis team and was trained there under supervision of Mr. Sajjad Rasool. He also continued to train in PLTA under the able guidance of renowned coach Rashid Malik and Sir Mushtaq. Overall, talented Mazari has won 45 titles (national, local, singles, doubles, runner-up). Over these past few months, he has been playing ATFs in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Pakistan.
