Review process of Christian Personal Law

LAHORE Provincial Minister for Human Rights and Minority Affairs Kamran Michael has said that the government will ensure participation of all Christian schools of thought in the review process of Christian Personal Law. He said this while presiding over Wednesday a special meeting attended by Parliamentary Secretary Khalil Tahir Sindhu, Secretary Minority Affairs Arshad Bin Ahmed, Addl Secretary Usman Saroush, Rev Maani Ezekiel, Pastor Kamran Wilson, Pastor Shakeel Anjum and Advocate IQ Shams. The Minister said that special exemption specified in the Constitution and Succession Act 1925, to all minorities of Pakistan regarding Personal Law, was not given to the Christian community which was a clear-cut violation of the Constitution and the cited Act. He said the stated exemption specified for all minorities would also be ensured to Christian minority as well. The Minister assured that all sections of Christian clergy would be invited to participate in the review process of Christian Personal Law and, if needed, necessary amendments would be made in it to make it completely in accordance with the Holy Bible.
