Kulsoom Nawaz's body reaches Jati Umra

The body of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, Pakistan's former first lady, was moved to the Jati Umra in the morning today almost half an hour after the flight bringing it from London arrived here at Allama Iqbal International Airport.

Pakistan International Airlines' (PIA) flight PK-758, which flew off from London's Heathrow Airport carrying Begum Kulsoom's body and was slated to touch down around 6:45 AM, reached on time.

The body was transferred to an ambulance directly from the aeroplane.

Shehbaz Sharif, the deceased's brother-in-law and President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), along with Begum Kulsoom's daughter Asma, grandson Zayd Hussain Sharif (Hussain Nawaz's son), and 11 other family members accompanied the body.

Hassan and Hussain Nawaz, Begum Kulsoom's sons, did not return to their motherland for their mother’s funeral. Members of the Sharif family in Pakistan, on the other hand, travelled to Lahore's airport to receive the body.

In order to maintain the law and order, a heavy contingent of police and Airports Security Force (ASF) personnel has been stationed in the Allama Iqbal International Airport as well as its entry and exit routes. Further, officers are carrying out stringent security checks in the area.
