PM Imran Khan inaugurates Mianwali train

Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan inaugurated Mianwali Rail Car on Friday.

While addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Mianwali Rail Car, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman said, “We recovered land worth Rs100 billion from the land mafia.” The PM lamented that large areas have been illegally occupied.

Imran Khan also appraised the gathering about railway reforms, saying that the railway system, currently in use, remained the same as introduced by British rulers. “There have been no reforms in the railways of Pakistan,” he said.

“We can repay our loans by selling railway land in Karachi,” he said, adding that the government wants to spend the public’s money on the welfare of the entire nation.

The Mianwali Rail Car consists of nine passenger coaches and the manufacturing cost of the rail car was Rs8.5 million, according to a statement issued by the Pakistan Railways.

An online facility is available for passengers to book their seats. The Mianwali Rail Car would be operational from Friday, the statement said. The statement further said that the train will depart from Kundian for Rawalpindi at 7am and depart from Rawalpindi for Kundian at 6pm daily.
