Independents win all Attock, Sanjwal CB polls

Attock   -  All the independent candidates have won the general member seats in Cantt Board elections in Attock and Sanjwal cantonment boards. Attock Cantt,   where a PTI candidate was contesting elections and was supported by a sitting provincial minister and a special assistant to Prime Minister,   could not succeed and lost the seat . To hold the elections peacefully all necessary arrangements were made. District administration, returning officer, and election monitoring officers paid visits to all    polling stations to ensure peaceful   election process. In Attock cantt ward I, an independent candidate Shah Nawaz Malik bagged 1244 votes and defeated his opponent PTI candidate Syed Mehdi Naqvi with narrow margin who bagged 1240 votes.  In this ward total number of registered votes is 4108 while only 2663 voters used their right of vote. As per the sources of election commission, Syed Mehdi has applied for recounting of votes. In Attock cantt ward II, an independent candidate Shakeel Bangash won the seat by bagging 2768 votes while his opponent Shahzad Ahmad who was   also an independent candidate could bag only 1007 votes. In this ward the registered voters are 6630 while only 3821 voters exercised their votes. In Sanjwal cantonment ward I, Malik Aftab Rafiq an independent candidate bagged 600 votes and won the seat while his opponent Zia u Din Niazi,   a JI candidate could secure only 364 votes.  

 In Sanjwal cantt ward II, Salman Iqbal advocate has already been elected unopposed. 

Meanwhile District Election Commissioner Noor ul Khitab thanked the voters for taking part in the election process in a peaceful manner.
