ISLAMABAD - Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Monday met with his Iranian counterpart Dr Ahmed Vahidi along with his nine-member delegation here at the Ministry of Interior.
Both sides discussed regional security situation, especially the emerging humanitarian crisis in the neighbouring Afghanistan. The two counterparts agreed to complete fencing work along Pak-Iran border at earliest. They discussed different proposals to prevent illegal immigration and narcotics smuggling. Issues of prisoners’ swap and Pak-Iran border management also came under discussion during the meeting.
Senior officials of the interior ministry were also present on the occasion. Earlier, Iranian interior minister arrived in Islamabad on a daylong visit.
Sheikh Rashid received the guest at Nur Khan Air Base. Secretary Interior Yousaf Naseem Khokhar and other senior officials were also present at the airport. During his one-day visit to Pakistan, the Iranian minister held meetings with Prime Minister Imran Khan, and other key government officials.
