Bajaur - Khalil-ur-Rahman of Pakistan Tahreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Said Badshah of the JUI-F were elected as chairman of Nawagai and Khar tehsil councils respectively after defeating their opponents in the Sunday’s re-polling in Bajaur tribal district.
According to the unofficial results of the four polling stations two each in Nawagai and Khar tehsils declared late Sunday night, Khalil of the PTI and Said Badshah of the JUI-F have won their seats by securing 834 and 363 votes respectively.
It said that the JUI-F backed independent candidate Najeebullah who was earlier leading, has obtained 355 votes in the said two polling stations. Similarly, Sahibzada Haroon Rasheed of the JI has obtained 484 votes in the re-polling held on two polling stations.
According to the comprehensive result of Nawagai tehsil chairmanship election, the ruling PTI candidate Khalilur Rahman got 21,147 votes in all 174 polling stations while his close rival Najeebullah, an independent candidate, obtained 20,886 votes.
Likewise, Said Badshah of the JUI-F bagged 18,775 votes while his close rival Sahibzada Haroon Rasheed of the JI got 18,243 votes in total 188 polling stations of Khar tehsil chairman slot.
In a brief media talks on Monday, the newly-elected chairman of Nawagai council, Khalil-ur-Rahman hinted to exposes those senior party leaders and lawmakers who had supported his close opponents candidates in the recent election.
Although Khalil didn’t name any one, however, said that he would exposes all those senior party leaders and lawmakers both to local party workers and party central and provincial leadership who had supported his rival candidates against him in the election.
Meanwhile according to the unofficial results, Idress Khan and Attaullah, the PTI candidates were elected as Youth and Kissan councillors in the Shahi Tangi village council respectively on the Sunday’s re-polling at two polling stations. Similarly, Hazrtullah, an independent candidate was elected as Kissan councillor in Village Council of Nawa Charming in the fresh voting held after the death of a nominee few days ahead of December 19 elections in the district.
