Pakistan-Russia Consultative Group meets in Moscow



ISLAMABAD - The 7th meeting of the Pakistan-Russia Consultative Group on Strategic Stability was held in Moscow, said a press release received here Saturday.
The Pakistani delegation, led by Munawar Saeed Bhatti, Additional Secretary, UN and EC, comprises Pakistan’s Permanent Representative in Geneva Ambassador Zamir Akram. Russian side was led by Sergey A Ryabkov, Deputy Foreign Minister. The two sides discussed matters of mutual interest relating to topical international issues, including arms control, nuclear disarmament and nonproliferation and other matters of mutual interests.
The sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepen understanding, strengthen cooperation and increase consultations in these areas, and draw on these convergences in this regard. Besides these consultations, the and Pakistan’s Ambassador in Moscow, held a meeting with Ambassador Zamir Kabulov, Head of the Second Asia Department, and Special Representative of the President of Russia on Afghanistan. In the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on regional situation and bilateral cooperation. Ambassador Zamir Kabulov underlined that Russain Foreign Minister Lavrov was looking to the visit of Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar to Russia for review and further strengthening of bilateral relations and exchange of views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. Both sides agreed to convene the next meeting of the Group in Pakistan at mutually convenient dates.
