Punjab cane commissioner summoned by LHC on Wednesday

The Lahore High Court  summoned the Punjab cane commissioner today. 

According to media reports, during the hearing the court expressed its apprehensions on the non-submission of a report on the issue by the commissioner.

The petitioner of case has argued that all sugar mills are working.

The set rate of Rs. 180 per maund is also not being ensured by the authorities and mills, the petitioner said.

Furthermore, it is also being mentioned in the application that mills, which are bound to start functioning in October, has not started their operations yet.

This is leading to heavy loss of sugarcane farmers, application mentioned.

The petition is being filed by the Jamat-e-Islami leader.
