Faizan, Shaeel reach Rafum Punjab Jr Tennis U-18 final

LAHORE   -  aizan Fayyaz and Shaeel Durab breezed into final of the Rafum Punjab Junior Tennis Championship after defeating their respective opponents in the U-18 semifinals here at the Punjab Tennis Academy on Thursday. 

In the U-18 first semifinal, Faizan Fayyaz was up against Hamza Jawad. Faizan played powerful and down the line shots to put his opponent under pressure and won the first set 6-1. He maintained his supremacy in the second set and won it 6-2 to book final berth against Shaeel Durab, who defeated Bilal Asim in the second semifinal with a margin of 6-4, 6-2. 

In the U-16 quarterfinals, Bilal Asim played well against Moavia Butt and outclassed him by 8-1. Ahtesham Humyum overpowered Haroon Arshad by 8-1 while Shaeel Durab faced tough resistance from Hamza Jawad before winning the match 8-4 and Hassan Ali beat Aized Khalil by 8-1. The U-14 quarterfinals saw Shehryar Anees thrashing Haroon Arshad 8-0, Ahtesham Humayun beating Hamza Ali Rizwan 8-5, Amna Ali Qayyum outpacing Ismail Ahmad 8-5 and Ismail Aftab toppling Labika Durab 8-5. 

In the Under-12 quarterfinals, Haniya Minhas, Abubakar Talha, Zohaib Afzal Malik and Hamza Ali Rizwan emerged as victorious and made their way to the semifinals. Haniya Minhas once again showed her class against Nabeel Ali Qayyum, who came from Islamabad to Lahore to feature in this event. Haniya prevailed over his opponent right from the word go and kept him under pressure till the end to win the encounter in great style. She won by 8-1. 

Zohaib Afzal Malik also played tremendous tennis against Ismail Aftab and kept his opponent under pressure to excel with a margin of 8-2. In the last quarterfinal, Hamza Ali Rizwan faced some resistance from Omer Jawad before winning the crucial match 8-4. Abubakar Talha proved too hot for Harris Bajwa as he won the match 8-0. Abubakar, partnering with his brother Ali Talha, also excelled in the Under-16 category semifinal, where the pair defeated Shaeel Durab/Hamza Jawad by 5-4(7-4), 4-1.
