ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has approved the appointment of Ch Fawad Hussain as Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Affairs.
Belonging to a strong political family from Jhelum, Ch Fawad was appointed by former prime minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani as his political assistant and keeping in view his abilities and commitment with the party Raja Pervez Asharf after assuming the charge of Chief Executive of the country re-notified him as his Special Assistant on Political Affairs.
Ch Fawad family was in politics before partition of sub-continent and his forefathers had played vital role in the Pakistan Movement. Ch Altaf Hussain remained Governor Punjab in mid-90s while Justice Iftikhar Hussain Chaudhry, who held the office of Chief Justice of Lahore High Court in early 2000, belonged to the same family.
Though the family have long history of allegiance with Pakistan People’s Party, for sometime Ch Fawad Hussain remained associated with All Pakistan Muslim League(APML) of Gen (Retd) Pervez Mushaarf but when he saw that the party head was not returning back to do politics in Pakistan, he left him and returned to his old abode where his family elders had spent their lives doing politics for the rights and welfare of the common people.
