Peshawar   -  Death of a student in the lockup of West Cantt Police Station raised eyebrows in the provincial capital on Sunday. 

A CCTV footage of the incident shows the young man hanging himself under a door. Public circles condemned the negligence of the police station staff who could not notice the young man committing suicide in the lockup. 

Later, Capital City Police Officer Abbas Ahsan and SSP Operation Yasir Afridi told a news conference that a murder case had been lodged against the SHO of the police station concerned Dost Muhammad while all the negligent staff had also been suspended. He said that judicial inquiry would soon begin into the case. 

A spokesman for Peshawar Police said the student was arrested after he pointed a pistol on shopkeepers during a quarrel. 

Later, he committed suicide inside the lockup while the CCTV footage of the incident also went viral on the social media. 

It may be mentioned here that a student Mubashir Wazir was shot dead allegedly by two cops a few days ago. Later, both the cops were arrested while the SHO of the police station concerned was also suspended.
