SARGODHA - Two dacoits were killed in an alleged police encounter in the jurisdiction of Satellite Police Station, here on Monday. According to a spokesman, the police were informed that five dacoits had barged into a house in Waqar Town and looted 82-tola gold and Rs 200,000 in cash.
A police team chased the alleged dacoits. On seeing the police, the dacoits opened fire on them near Chak No 40-NB. The police retaliated the fire.
In exchange of fire, two fleeing dacoits were killed while three others fled the scene. The dead were identified as Muhammad Amir and Khizar Hayat. They were wanted by police in more than 50 cases of dacoity and burglary.
Police also recovered snatched gold, cash, a car and weapons. The police shifted the bodies to DHQ Teaching Hospital for autopsy and launched the search operation for the arrest of three other outlaws.
PHA to organize ‘flora festival’ on March 23
Chairman Parks and Horticulture Authority Syed Mahmood Bakhsh Gilani on Monday said that the seven-day Flora Festival would be start here from March 23 while all arrangements in this regard were completed.
He expressed these views while presiding over a review meeting at his office. He said colorful programs including tableaus, variety shows and cultural shows would be organized,besides various commodities and seasonal flowers would be displayed. He further said that PHA was working hard to provide healthy activities to the people of all ages. PHA officials and representatives of other departments were also present in the meeting.
Eight lawbreakers arrested
Police arrested eight outlaws and recovered narcotics and illegal weapons from their possession.
Police said on Monday the raiding teams arrested eight lawbreakers and recovered 1.4-kg hashish, 5 pistols 30-bore and a gun 12-bore from them.
