ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbas has approved seven months extension in the service tenure of Additional Secretary Defence Production Major General Tariq Ghafoor.

According to the Establishment Division notification, "The Prime Minister has been pleased to approve the extension in the secondment period of PA-21682 Major General Tariq Ghafoor, H(M), presently posted as Additional Secretary, Defence Production Division, Rawalpindi, from 05-11-2017 to 17-06-2018."

Major General Tariq Ghafoor is a graduate of the Command and Staff College Quetta, Pakistan, German Staff College and National Defence University, Islamabad. He holds Master’s Degree in “War Studies” and “Art of War”.

During his military career, he has held various command, staff and instructional appointments. On Command side, he has been Commander of a Mechanised Infantry Battalion, Mechanised Brigade and two Infantry Divisions. On staff, he has been Brigade Major (G-3 in NATO terminology) of an Infantry Brigade, Chief of Staff of a Corps and instructor at Command & Staff College Quetta.
