ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has stopped all satellite TV channels and media to telecast the CCTV footage of Noor Mukadam under section 27 of Authority Ordinance 2002.
PEMRA says in a latter, reference is invited to the observation made by the Islamabad High Court, Islamabad with regard to telecast of CCTV footage of Noor Mukadam and earlier directives issued by PEMRA vide letter No. 13(89)/OPS/2016/2985 dated July 27, 2021 on crime reporting etc.
While exercising powers under Section 27 of PEMRA Ordinance 2002 as amended by PEMRA Amendment Act 2007, telecast of CCTV footage of Noor Mukadam and Zahir Jaffer is “Prohibited”.
It says that all satellite TV channels (News & Current Affairs/Regional Language) are therefore directed to stop airing aforementioned CCTV footage immediately, failing which strict action shall be initiated against the violators under Section 29, 30 and 33 of PEMRA Ordinance 2002 as amended PEMRA (Amendment) Act 2007.
PEMRA issued the advisory after airing CCTV footage of Noor Mukadam and Zahir Jaffar before her killing by different channels.
