QUETTA- A four day anti-polio campaign has been launched by the health department of Balochistan in three ‘high risk’ districts of the province.

Balochistan’s health department has said that the polio immunization campaign would take place from September 15 to September 18, 2014 in which 700,000 children, under the age of five years, will be immunized from the virus.

The anti-polio campaign will be held in Balochistan’s districts of Quetta, Pishin and Qilla Abdullah. Polio Monitoring Cell has stated that the authorities have made special arrangements for the vaccination process that have never been applied before. Around 1500 teams have been formed for the four day anti-polio campaign. Moreover, the campaign will also be held in high risk Union Councils (UCs) on priority basis.

It should be noted that two polio cases were reported from Quetta and Qilla Abdullah areas of the province this year.
