They say about seventy civilians were killed and roughly the same number sustained injuries when the Pakistan Air Force jet fighters bombed Sra Vella in Tirah valley in Khyber Agency on April 10. Number of wounded is probably under reported because those who sustain injuries are usually thrice the number of dead. The injured were evacuated to hospitals in Jamrud and Peshawar through arduous hilly routes; many of them dying also on the way. Tribal sources said two jet fighters bombed the village at 10:00 a.m., leaving behind dead and wounded in heaps and houses in rubble. When the villagers working at nearby water channel approached the site to rescue them, wounded, another jet fighter came and bombed killing some more and maiming still more which by one count are 150. A wounded tribesman said that house of three brothers; Sher Mat who was serving in the Army, Yarmat Khan and Qimat Khan, serving in the Shawal Rifles in the paramilitary Frontier Corps, was also destroyed. Whether Sher Mat and his brothers were also terrorists is something for the authorities to answer? The tactic used by the jet fighters was typical of what we see being used by the Israeli Air Force against the Palestinians.
