LAHORE: Elementary report on the incident of firing at Justice Ijazul Ahsan house has been sent by police to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar.
According to this report, Police was informed about this firing incident at 10.45 am. Pakistan Rangers shift Incharge Naik Abdul Razaq got registered the complaint in respect of this incident.
The police report said the bullet hit the upper part of the main gate of Justice Ijazul Ahsan house. Punjab Forensic Agency was called to analyze the matter which has preserved all evidence and record.
The initial investigations suggest that the bullet was fired from a large distance. Investigations have been started from what direction the bullet had come. Search operations were also conducted in nearby localities.
Punjab Forensic Agency has sent the bullet found from the scene to Fire Arms and Toll Marks for observation. Shots were twice fired on the house of Justice Ijazul Ahsan. Firing incidents took place at 10.45 pm on Saturday night and 9.45 am on Sunday morning.
CJP Mian Saqib Nisar visited the house of Justice Ijazul Ahsan and he himself is monitoring the situation.The case has been registered against unknown accused and terrorism clauses have been included in the case.
Justice Ijazul Ahsan is monitoring judge of implementation of Panama case decision. A joint investigation team (JIT) will investigate the firing incident at the residence of Supreme Court Judge Justice Ijazul Ahsan.
Dr Sultan Chaudhry, DIG Investigation, will be heading the JIT.
An unidentified gunman fired on the residence of Justice Ijazul Ahsan, member of the bench which ruled the verdict of disqualification of former premier Nawaz Sharif in July 2017, on Sunday in Lahore.
However, no one was injured in the shooting. Later on, forensic teams collected evidence and recovered bullet shells from outside the house.
The case has been registered against unknown persons under the anti-terrorism act but no suspect has been named for the shooting yet.
The Supreme Court Bar Association threatened to go on strike today but after the appeal Chief Justice Saqib Nisar cancelled the plan.
The CJP asked the lawyers and Judges to attend the courts for ensuring dispensation of justice to all those who are involved in litigation and await justice from courts.
Furthermore, CJP Saqib Nisar also visited the residence of Justice Ahsan and reviewed the situation himself.
Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif also took notice of the incident and vowed an immediate action.
Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan, who started the legal proceedings against Nawaz Sharif and his family, said that the shooting incident may be a political motive to “pressurise” the judiciary. But he didn’t give any evidence in support of his view.
He tweeted, “Strongly condemn the firing at Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan’s house. These Sicilian-mafia-like tactics to pressurise senior judiciary are unacceptable in any democracy.”

Other politicians and Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari also condemned the incident and demanded an independent inquiry.
Chairman PPP in a statement regarded the incident as inexpiable act. Zardari said the firing is very serious matter. He demanded immediate arrest of culprits.
