Lahore police clear most of city roads

LAHORE   -  The Lahore police cleared most of the city roads blocked by activists of banned so-called religious group TLP.

Capital City Police Officer Additional IG Ghulam Mahmood Dogar visited different areas of the city and inspected on-ground situation of the roads at Shinghai Bridge, Daroghawala and Babu Sabu Chowk. 

Officers of Rangers, DIG Operations Sajid Kiani and SSP Operations accompanied him. CCPO Lahore reviewed the overall law and order situation in the city as well as implementation of the operational strategy for clearance of the blockade of roads. Earlier, the police, along with Rangers, conducted an operation to clear the Shinghai Bridge, Daroghawala Chowk as well as Babu Sabu Chowk. 

The protestors pelted the police with stones during the operations. The police and Rangers were deployed in the cleared areas later on.  

According to police sources, during the last four days of violent protests, at least 125 police officers received injuries whereas two constables -- Muhammad Afzal and Muhammad Imran lost their lives in the line of duty.
