Youth’s murder in shootout: Kasur DPO gets bail

The Lahore High Court Wednesday granted bail to two police officials in the case of killing a young suspect of child rape and murder in Kasur in an alleged fake encounter.

However, the court of LHC acting CJ Muhammad Anwarul Haq denied bail to DSP and sub inspector in the same case.  Kasur DPO Nasir Abbasi Rizvi and constable Amanat as well as DSP Arif Rashid and SI Younas Doga moved the petitions in the court. Additional Prosecutor General Abdul Samad appeared in the court and said that the suspects/cops  arrested Muddassar from his home and later took his life in a fake encounter. He argued that later they forced the mother of the deceased to sign an agreement regarding payment of huge money. The prosecutor questioned the bails granted to the suspects by Kasur sessions court, saying that the facts were ignored in their matter.  Rashid, Dogar and three other police officials were found guilty in an investigation, he said. However, he said, the JIT had to complete yet its investigation about the role of DPO Rizvi and constable Amanat.

He further said that Imran Ali, the convict in Zainab’s rape and murder case, was involved in murder of Emaan Fatima according to the DNA report while the top court had also taken suo motu notice of extra judicial killing of Mudassar.

The prosecutor said that the accused police officials claimed that Mudassar, the victim, was riding a stolen bike along with two others and they did not stop on the picket when asked to stop. At this, he said, the police officials claimed that they chased the bikers who did firing on them and in self-defence, the police officials also opened fire which resulted into the death of one Mudassar.

After hearing arguments, Justice Haq granted bail to DPO Rizvi, driver Amanat and denied bail to DSP Arif Rashid and sub-inspector Younas Dogar.  . –Staff Reporter
