FAISALABAD - As many as 59 people were tested positive for COVID-19 in the district during the last 24 hours.
According to health department spokesperson, 1,815 coronavirus tests were conducted in public and private sector labs during the same period. He said that total active cases in Faisalabad district reached 834 while recoveries 20,961.
He said that 339 beds were allocated at the Allied Hospital, 133 at the DHQ Hospital and 150 at Government General Hospital Ghulam Muhammad Abad for COVID-19 patients. At present, 104 patients were under treatment at the Allied Hospital and 35 at DHQ Hospital. He further said that 418 confirmed patients were isolated at their homes in the district.
Two bodies recovered from canals
Two bodies were found floating in canals in separate incidents during the past 24 hours.
Police said on Sunday that some passersby spotted a corpse of 40-year-old man floating in Rakh Branch Canal near Abdullah Pur at Sammundri Road and informed the area police. Similarly, a body of 25-year-old youth was found in Jhang Branch Canal near Chak 25-JB Sitiana Road. The divers of Rescue-1122 fished out the bodies and handed over to police. Police were investigating.
6 lakh saplings
to be planted in
Faisalabad dist: DC
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali on Sunday said six lakh saplings would be planted in district Faisalabad during the current year. He also planted a sapling under the monsoon plantation campaign at The University of Faisalabad (TUF) Amin Campus. Additional Deputy Commissioner Headquarters Muhammad Khalid, Divisional Forest Officer Wajeeh-ud-Din, TUF Chairman Board of Governors Mian Haider Amin and other officers were also present.
The DC said healthy environment could only be maintained through maximum tree plantation. He said that all possible measures were being taken to make the Prime Minister’s ten billion tree tsunami project a success.
79 shopkeepers fined
on profiteering
Price control magistrates have imposed fine on 79 shopkeepers for profiteering in various parts of the district during the last 24 hours. A spokesman for the local administration said on Sunday that price control magistrates inspected 917 shops in different markets and bazaars of the district and found 79 shopkeepers involved in profiteering and imposed a total fine of Rs91,000 on them.
