Islamabad police arrested 265 criminals last week

ISLAMABAD   -  Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Dr Syed Mustafa Tanweer has said that Islamabad police, during last week accelerated its efforts against criminals and arrested 265 outlaws with huge recovery of looted items worth Rs17.71 million.

The SSP said that 24 culprits involved in dacoity, robbery, car/motorcycle theft were arrested while 18 absconders were held during the same period. Complete challans of 192 cases were sent to concerned courts, he added. Syed Mustafa Tanweer further said that ICT Police has launched a special campaign against drug sellers/bootleggers for elimination of this menace from the capital. During this campaign, the police nabbed 42 accused and recovered 25745 grams hashish. As many as 31 accused were also held for having illegal weapons and recovered 28 pistols, one Kalashnikov and one rifle, 179 rounds and one dagger from them, the SSP said. He said that police have accelerated efforts against criminals and 150 accused involved in crimes of different nature were also arrested.

Meanwhile, Noon police have arrested two members of dacoit gang and recovered snatched cash, mobile phone and weapons from them, a police spokesman said on Sunday. The accused have been identified as Abid Khan and Hussain. The police team also recovered snatched cash, mobile phone and weapons along with ammunition from their possession. Separate cases have been registered against them at Noon and Tarnol police stations and further investigation is underway.
