Peshawar, Islamabad book berth in Disabled T20 semis

islamabad -  Defending champions Peshawar and Islamabad booked berths in the semifinals of the 6th National Disabled T20 Cricket Championship 2017-18.

The matches were played at Diamond and National Grounds, as Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators were playing exhibition match at Pindi Stadium. In the first match at Diamond Ground, Peshawar beat Sialkot by 47 runs. Peshawar, batting first, posted 213-7 in 20 overs with opener Adeel Khan smashing scintillating 87 off 38 balls with the help of 12 fours and 4 sixes while his partner while Wajid Alam contributed 38 and skipper Nihar Alam unbeaten 31. Najam-Ul-Hassan took 1-18, while three Peshawar batsmen were run out.

Sialkot, in reply, were bowled out for 166 in 19.5 overs. Ali Raza once played well and hit 40-ball 64 with the help of 2 fours and 3 sixes while Najam-ul-Hassan added 33. Abdullah captured 3-10 and Fayyaz Ahmed 3-41. Adeel Khan was named player of the match.

In another match played at the same venue, Rawalpindi registered their first victory after beating Abbottabad by 3 wickets. Batting first, Abbottabad were all out for 154 in 20 overs. Latif Ullah was top scorer with 45 while Awal Khan made 39. Bilal Azeem captured 3-22 and Abdul Jabbar 2-15. Sajjad Khan alias Bila helped Rawalpindi achieved the target in 19.5 overs. Bila hammered 73 studded with 11 fours and 2 sixes while Altaf Ahmed hit 34 and M Arslan 23. Faisal Hayat took 2-27 and M Sheraz 1-25. Sajad Khan was named player of the match.

In the third match of the day played at National ground, skipper Sher Ali helped Fata thrash AJK by 10 wickets. Batting first, AJK were bundled out for 77 in 16.4 overs. Only M Aslam (26) reached double figures. Umer Ayaz ripped through AJK batting by grabbing 5-23 while M Ullah took 2-9 and Asad Shanwari 2-12. Fata reached home in 6th overs without losing a single wicket. Sher Ali Afridi scored unbeaten 45 and Asad Shanwari unbeaten 17. Umer Hayat was adjudged as man of the match.

In the fourth and last match of the day played at the same venue, Islamabad beat Lahore by 4 wickets. Batting first, Lahore could score 139-9 in allotted overs with M Khalid scoring 37, Hasnain Alam 27 and Ashfaq Shakir 15. Sajjad Hussain bagged 2-15, Shafiq Khan 2-29 and M Naeem 2-31. Islamabad achieved the target on the last ball of the match, when hero of the match Waqaf Shah hit the boundary to steer Islamabad to win. Waqaf slammed unbeaten 21 while Asad Rehman hit 3 and Adil Abbasi 22. M Sohaib took 2-20 and M Khalid 1-10. Waqaf was decaled man of the match.

PDCA chairman Saleem Karim distributed prizes among top performers of all the four matches.
