PHC seals 14 fake treatment centres

LAHORE - The Punjab Healthcare Commission on Thursday closed down 14 fake treatment centres of quacks, and initiated further proceedings against them.

The sealed centres included nine general quacks, four bone-setters and one fake dentist. The treatment centres, where the quacks were posing as general physicians, included Ijaz Clinic, Zia Clinic, Shafi Medical Store, Kamran Clinic, Rasheed Clinic, Farhan Medical Store, Aun-o-Muhammad Clinic, Rana Clinic and Rasheed Clinic. The bone-setters were Tahir Jarrah, Ali Hajvery Aza Band Centre, Azam Jarrah Pehalwan and Shah Din Jarrah. The Dental Solutions was also closed down.

Drap chief meets minister

Chief Executive of Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) Sheikh Akhtar called on Minister Primary and Secondary Healthcare Kh Imran Nazir on Thursday.

Secretary P&SH Ali Jan Khan, Additional Secretary Drug Wing Muhammad Sohail, Additional Director DRAP in Punjab Asim Rauf and Chief Drug Controller Dr Munawar Hayat were also present.

During the meeting issues relating to medical devices, disposable items, registration, prices and quality of medicine were discussed.

Nomination of a focal person from both sides was proposed for close coordination to regulate the system and ensure availability of quality medicines.
