LAHORE – Like other parts of country, Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and other martyrs of Karbala was observed in the City with reverence and fervor, amid elaborate security arrangements.
Processions were taken out and Majalis-e-Aza were organized in various localities to pay homage to Hazrat Iman Hussain (AS) and his companions for rendering the greatest sacrifice in the history of Islam. Zakirs urged the participants to remember the sacrifice of martyrs of Karbla and follow the footsteps of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions. Police deputed around 8000 personnel to maintain security and avoid any untoward happening at the main procession taken out from the walled city and concluded at Karbala Gamay Shah. Besides, it was also the last day of the Urs of Hazrat Ali Hajvery (RA) for which special measures were taken by the City Traffic Police to maintain the traffic flow. Over 700 officers were deployed to streamline traffic at the routes of the processions as well as the areas leading to the Data Darbar Complex.
