No clash among institutions: Firdous


SIALKOT - Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the elements, who were dreaming clash among institutions would be disappointed.
She was talking with different delegations of local notables here on Sunday. She said that those who were beating the drums for bring change had gathered all the “Old Faces “around them which in fact was tantamount to earning notoriety rather winning hearts of the masses who were the real source of power.
She argued that the people had become politically matured and would reject all those politicians who were trading loyalties for their vested interest by befooling the public in the name of change. Dr Firdous said that the balloon of anti-democratic elements had become airless and they had lost their vigour.
The Federal Minister urged the political parties to sit-together and point out the “flaws “if any, in the political system and come forwards to help the government chalk out an effective mutual political strategy.
She pointed out that only Parliament was the real source of power which could strengthen other institutions. She argued that the security and strengthening of national institutions laid in the supremacy of Parliament and it was the only remedy to safeguard the institutions.
The federal minister claimed that politically matured masses could never be deceived by the ‘political jugglers’ which were not sincere with democracy in the country.
Dr Firdous said urged the media to play its pivotal positive role and adopt “Criticisms for Constructions “policy and give positive and effective suggestions to the government enabling it to evolve a better strategy for the social and economic development and welfare of the people.
Dr Firdous said that many social economic development and public welfare projects worth billions of rupees were briskly underway which would help change the socio-economic condition of the people for better, adding that development schemes were also being executed in the constituencies of opposition Parliamentarians which was a testimony to the PPP’s people-friendly policies.
Lightning strikes cinema: As many as two cinema employees were injured when lightning struck the 40-year-old building of a local cinema, destroying building completely here in Sialkot city’s congested Kashmir Road locality on Sunday.
Two cinema employees namely Muhammad Aslam and Bashir Ahmed were present there when lightning hit the building of Gulistan Cinema due to which the roof and ceiling of the cinema caved in injuring both of them critcally. Rescue 1122 rescuers rushed to the spot and pulled them out from the debris. However, no loss of life was reported. The area was jolted with the loud thunder of lightning.
