PM asked to apologise over statement against Army

SWABI – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, President Pir Sabir Shah Sunday said Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani should apologise to the entire nation for his statement about Pakistan Army at a time when chief of army staff was on an official visit of the time-tested friend, China.
Talking to media on the occasion of Waleema (Wedding meal) of PML-N district president Iftikhar Ahmad Khan’s son in Jhanda here, he alleged that it was a well thought-out conspiracy against the most distinguished institution of the country. Coming down hard upon the PPP leadership, he said the prime minister’s statement was against the integrity of the country, adding that the government would be responsible for its consequences, as it created a highly complex situation.
Flanked by other key leaders of the party, Sabir Shah said such statements and policies could pose a grave threat to the solidarity of the country. He urged the political leadership of the country to avoid giving statements that could weaken the state institutions. He said the PML-N leadership opposed such policies. He said his party believed in efforts for making the country institutions stronger, creating an atmosphere of harmony and collaboration. He alleged that the institutions clash was the result of the wrong priorities and wrong policies of the government. He observed that the rulers failed to work for the welfare of the people, while it also failed to save various government institutions from destruction. “The government has pushed the people of the country from one deep crisis to another quagmire,” he said, adding that, “Frustration among the masses has increased manifold. People have become highly confused, as there is a great difference between the promices made with them and the policies being followed by the rulers for the last four years.” He said the deteriorating law and order situation, hike in prices of essential commodities, loadshedding even in winter and the failure of institutions functioning rendered the masses life miserable. 
He observed that the country’s economy was on the verge of collapse, and more people were being pushed below the poverty line. He said it was the result of the government economic policy.
He said if the country institutions were strong only then a grooming democracy could be ensured in the country.
He said the people wanted an immediate change. He demanded of the government to immediately announce holding elections.
Senator Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, senior leader of PML-N, Abdus Subkhan Khan and other numerous distinguished leaders of the party also attended the Waleema. Liaqat Ahmad Khan, former president of Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was also present on the occasion.
