SARGODHA - At least seven people were killed and 18 were injured when three vehicles collided with each other due to dense fog on Sunday. As per details, a passenger van (LWN/0615) was heading towards Gujranwala from Khushab. When it reached at 33-Phatak Ajnala Road in the limits of Saddr Police Station, it collided with rashly driven two trucks (AJK/1797 & RIG/6825) coming from the opposite side (Bhalwal to Sargodha) in the wee hours of Sunday. Resultantly, six passengers namely Hafiz M Nadeem Arain, Zafar Baloch, M Ramzan Arain, Zain-ul-Abideen Ranjha, Khalil Arain and van driver M Nazir Thaheem, all hailing from District Khushab were died on the spot whereas eighteen passengers sustained severe injuries.
The drivers and conductors of both the trucks managed to escape. A passerby informed the patrolling police through cellphone who reached the scene and shifted the dead bodies and wounded to DHQ Hospital Sargodha for autopsy and treatment. Later, an injured also succumbed to his injuries at hospital. The police have registered a case against the absconding drivers and impounded the vehicles. The police are investigating into the tragic incident.
