KARACHI - The opposition parties in Sindh including PTI, MQM-Pakistan and GDA on Saturday staged a sit-in protest against the Sindh Local Government law. The protesters called the Sindh LG (Amendment) bill as a draconian law stating that this would completely destroy the whole system.
PTI provincial chief and federal minister Ali Zaidi while addressing the protesters said that the provincial government did not want to give anything to its people. He said the provincial government had introduced a draconian law and the people would not step back from its opposition.
While taking to task the Sindh Chief Minister, he alleged that the name of the Accountant of Asif Ali Zardari was Murad Ali Shah. He said that they neither could lift garbage nor provide water to the people.
Ali Zaidi said that PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had announced a march towards Islamabad from Karachi on February 27, adding, he announce that PTI would march towards Karachi from Ghotki to overthrow the provincial government.
On the occasion, other leaders of the joint opposition including Haleem Adil Shaikh, Hasnain Mirza, Amir Khan, Khawaja Izharul Hassan, and Nusrat Sehar Abbasi also addressed to the participants of the protest.
Later, members of the joint opposition staged a sit-in protest and chanted slogans against the local government law. Zaidi, who is also Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh President, announced the protest march in response to the long-march call given by PPP leadership against the ruling PTI government. On Bilawal’s statement that he will march from Karachi to Islamabad on February 27, the federal minister said, “I announce that PTI will march towards Karachi along with people of the province from Ghotki.”
While addressing a press briefing after a meeting of the provincial advisory committee here, Ali Zaidi said that the Sindh government introduced a draconian law of the Local Government in the province.
Federal Minister Mohammad Mian Soomro, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, Haleem Adil Shaikh, Ameer Bux Bhutto and others were also present on the occasion.
Ali Zaidi said that PPP members of the national assembly were members of the standing committees but in contrary to that they had not provided the same positions to the members of the opposition in Sindh Assembly. He said that PPP-led government would swallow all the rights of the people in the province. He alleged that Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah merely talked about 18th Amendment, but he was snatching powers himself.
Ali Zaidi said that they could not provide the people vaccines against dog bite, how they could give coronavirus’ vaccination. He said that K-IV project was being executed by the federal government.
On the occasion, he also thanked his captain Imran Khan for his appointment as a PTI Sindh’s President.
