Kaun Banega ‘Ghatiya Insaan’
Former Pakistani cricketers M Yousuf and Ramiz Raja had been invited on a TV show to discuss the repercussions of allowing Mohammad Aamir’s return. In their two-minute ‘war of words’ on Live TV, the pair hurled abuses and took every pot-shot in the book. “From a shameless person like you, we can hear only these things. You don’t’ know anything just like you did not know how to play cricket. You only know how to talk. ” Yousuaf told Raja who called him Ghatya Aadmi (cheap person).
Inzamam’s
Beating Bat
It was a high voltage Pakistan vs India match in 1997 of Sahara Cup in Canada. Inzamam ul Haq had just scored a 34-ball 10 in the match in which and his team had gotten all out for 116. As was later reported, he was greeted to his fielding position near the boundary line by chants of “Oye motte, seedha khadha ho. Mota aaloo, sadda aloo.” (O Fat Stand straight, Fat potato). What happened next was that after the match Inzamam just asked the third man to bring out a bat. And after getting one he went straight to attack that spectator.
Shoaib Akhtar’s Monologue on Misbah
The time was 2015. Pakistan cricket’s status was ‘tragic’, if Shoaib Akhtar is to be believed. The team had lost their second straight World Cup match and Shoaib knew exactly who to blame. “I have not seen a more coward and selfish captain than Misbah. He is not willing to bat up the order to protect the other players at a time when he needs to show inspiration. I dont understand what kind of a man Misbah is. There is no limit to his selfishness.”
Little Afridi No
Like Misbah
Pakistan lost the 2011 semi-final to India. Needeing 30off the last over and it was Misbah at the crease. A few dot balls and he fell on the penultimate delivery. Pakistan all out. Cut to Shahid Afridi in the dressing room and he was visibly shattered, but not as much as his daughters back home. Interviewed on Live TV, a short 30 second clip made headlines. “Misbah realised very soon that he needed to score runs,” said Aqsa sarcastically.
Shahid Afridi’s Love Confession
This one is the latest entry into our controversial Pakistani live TV story. Skipper Shahid Afridi sat down in front of the media for the customary open-media session and did what any visiting captain, looking to win over a few fans would do, he stroked their ego. Only, he seemed to forget there are channels in Pakistan as well. What has followed is borderline comical! Javed Miandad ripped apart Afridi for saying he’s “got more love from Indian fans than Pakistani” and a lawyer has served him and the PCB notice.
