Nab to hold inquiries against KP govt officials

PESHAWAR - National Accountability Bureau Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa authorised several inquiries against government officials of Peshawar Electricity Supply Company, Water and Sanitation Services, Peshawar, Tehsil Municipal Administration Bannu and Bannu Sugar Mills Ltd.

The regional board meeting of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) KP was chaired by Farmanullah Khan, director general Nab KP, at Peshawar. The meeting was attended by directors, deputy prosecutor general, case officers, and other concerned officers.

The board authorised inquiry against officers and officials of the WSSP and others regarding misuse of authority. The subjects are alleged to have made illegal appointments of different cadre in WSSP in gross violation of laws, a statement said.

Another inquiry was authorised against officials of Bannu Sugar Mills regarding misuse of authority. The subjects are alleged to have misappropriated funds in the mills besides having illegally sold precious land owned by the mill and not paying the salaries of employees, the statement added.

The board authorised inquiry against officers and officials of PESCO and others regarding corruption and misuse of authority. The subjects are alleged to have appointed ghost employees, the statement added.

Another inquiry was authorised against officials of TMA Bannu and others for cheating public at large. The subjects are alleged to have collected millions of rupees on the promise that they would be allotted shops at Old Sabzi Mandi, Bannu, but neither shops were allotted, nor the money was returned, it said.

The board also authorised inquiry against Canal View housing project on Nasir Bagh Road in Peshawar regarding illegal housing scheme without fulfilling the required formalities and in gross violations of Site Development Schemes 2005.

The board authorised another inquiry against Nauman Fayaz, joint director (planning) at Small Industrial Development Board, KP and others regarding misuse of authority. The subject is alleged to have illegally regularised under the garb of KP Regulations Act 2009, as he was appointed on contract basis. The accused caused huge loss to the department in bio-gas project and illegal allotment of plots in SIE, Karak and Bannu, the Nab said.

The board authorized inquiry against employees of the KP Revenue Department and others regarding corruption and corrupt practices. The subjects are alleged to have illegally grabbed Auqaf Department’s land allocated for graveyard at Yakatut Area Peshawar. It is further alleged that out of total area of graveyard, most of the area is illegally occupied by influential private persons for residential and commercial purpose in connivance with Revenue officials.

The board also authorised inquiry against officials of Health Care Commission, KP and others regarding corruption and corrupt practices. The subjects are alleged to have made illegal appointments of different cadres in HCC in gross violation of laws, the statement concluded.
