Pakistan, China agree to expedite Gwadar projects

Pakistan and China have agreed to expedite implementation of Gwadar projects, particularly development of Gwadar social sector projects.

The agreement came during meetings of Joint Working Groups of Gwadar and Planning via video conference in Islamabad.

The meetings were co-chaired by Secretary Planning, Development and Reform Zafar Hassan and Director General National Development and Reform Commission of China XIA Qing.

They recommended New Gwadar International Airport, China-Pakistan Friendship Hospital Gwadar and Vocational and Technical Institute as main deliverable to Joint Cooperation Committee to be held in Beijing next month.

The two sides also agreed to promote socio-economic development and finalize a way forward for future cooperation in order to ensure early identification and implementation of projects.

Expressing satisfaction over progress of CPEC project, Zafar Hassan said the government of Pakistan gives great importance to development of Gwadar.
