62 wanted men arrested, stolen bikes recovered in Mardan

Peshawar-Police on Friday busted a robbers’ gang comprising foreigners while 14 motorcycles were also recovered in Mardan district.
Speaking to The Nation, District Police Officer (DPO) Dr Zahidullah Khan said that taking action on wanted men’s list received from Central Police Office, Mardan police had arrested all 62 outlaws. 
He said that following frequent robberies in city areas, the police launched investigations and busted a gang of four Afghan men, allegedly involved in several robberies. The arrestees were identified as Naqibullah, Sadiqulah, Hameedullah and Noorul Anwar. 
He said the arrestees confessed various robberies and the cops also recovered five tolas gold jewellery, three mobile phones and several pistols from their possession.  He said that raids were being conducted to arrest the other accomplices of the accused. 
Also, 16 stolen motorbikes were recovered in the city area after a motorcycle lifter identified as Jan Muhammad was arrested in a raid. 
The DPO said that the district police along with excise department registered 1450 unregistered vehicles and added more than Rs45 million to the exchequer. 
“Unregistered vehicles can be used in crimes. This is why their registration not only added amount to the national exchequer but it would also reduce crime rate,” the DPO said.
