PM decides not to visit US, will address UNGA virtually

ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided not to travel to the United States where he was scheduled to attend the United Nations General Assembly session in New York, instead he would address UNGA virtually from Islamabad, it is learnt officially.

Diplomatic sources told the Nation that Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi would travel to New York to lead the Pakistan delegation and would hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from a number of countries.

"No meeting between Foreign Minister Qureshi and US secretary of state Tony Blinkin has been scheduled on the sidelines of the UNGA," a source confirmed. Sources said the prime minister would deliver a virtual address before UNGA on 24th September 2021 from Islamabad.

FM Qureshi will travel to New York to lead Pakistan delegation

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi would chair an OIC contact group meeting in New York which takes place annually to discuss the latest situation in IIOJK. Sources said that the foreign minister   would share the copies of the latest dossier on Indian occupied Kashmir,   compiled by Pakistani government with the members of the OIC contact group on Kashmir.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi would also attend a ministerial meeting on UNSC reforms at the UN headquarters. He would meet various corporate leaders from the US and would also address a press conference before returning to Islamabad on 26th September.
