Gill released from Adiala Jail

RAWALPINDI     -   Adiala Jail authorities on Thursday released Dr Shahbaz Gill, the former chief of staff of ex-PM Imran Khan, after Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted him bail in sedition case, informed sources. Adiala Jail Superintendent Ijaz Asghar ordered release of Dr Shahbaz Gill while executing “Robkar” by the IHC, they said. Oustide the prisons, a large number of PTI leaders and workers accorded a warm welcome to Dr Shahbaz Gill as he stepped out from the jail building. Holding placards, banners and pictures of PTI Chief Imran Khan and Dr Shahbaz Gill, the very charged leaders and workers chanted slogans in favour of Khan and Gill. Dr Shahbaz Gill had not interacted with media men present oustide jail and his convoy sped away towards Chakri Interchange. It may be noted that Kohsar police had arrested Dr Shahbaz Gill after filing a sedition case against him for anti-army speech in a TV talk show. A court of law rejected bail plea of Gill and sent him to jail. The lawyers of Gill challenged the verdict of lower court in IHC where the Chief Justice Athar Minullah awarded him the bail.
