Clean Lahore a priority: minister



LAHORe: Environment Protection Minister Col (r) Shuja Khanzada has said making Lahore a pollution-free was one of the government priorities.
Chairing a meeting of River Ravi Commission on Friday, he said that all the suggestions given by the members of commission would be considered while finalising the strategy.  Shuja Khanzada said that the pilot project of Bio-remediation based on the concept of constructed wetland should be started without wasting time. The meeting was informed that for the suggested bio-remediation project construction of wetland be carried out on land of 50 acres situated at Babu Sabu initially as demonstration for 10 cusecs of waste water.
The Minister emphasized on finalization of work on the project and also directed to seek help from Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA). He said that all the stakeholders should be invited on one platform and asked to resolve all the issues regarding the project. He said that Punjab government is committed and word “No” does not exist in the dictionary.–Staff Reporter
