Hashmi assails pro-Imran verdict

MULTAN-Veteran politician Makhdoom Javed Hashmi said that the verdicts given by the Supreme Court declaring Nawaz Sharif disqualified and PTI Chairman Imran Khan qualified are confusing the nation.
Addressing a news conference here at Multan Press Club on Saturday, he added that all the reasons used for the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif also existed in Imran Khan’s case but he was acquitted. He said that the nation had the right to criticise the decisions of Supreme Court. He pointed out that the court gave three verdicts in Nawaz Sharif, Imran Khan and Jahangir Khan Tareen case and all the verdicts looked illogical. “One is punished and the other is acquitted. The cases of Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan were the same but one was given relief by the Supreme Court and the other punished,” he maintained. He said that PTI people also believed that Imran Khan escaped punishment because of Jemima Khan and one person was heard saying that entire nation should say thanks to her.
Hashmi reiterated that parliament was the mother of all institutions but those, who bowed down before constitution, crushed the parliament under their boots many times. He said that he repeatedly said that preparations were underway to enforce judicial martial law and today anchors and intellectuals had admitted that Hashmi’s anticipation was right. He said that Supreme Court’s sanctity should be upheld but if the assembly was dissolved, it would be judicial martial law.
He said that the way warrants were being issued for the arrest of some people should also be issued for the absconder, constitution violator and dictator Musharraf. “He was the one who harmed the country the most after Dhaka debacle,” he maintained.
He said that he had resigned to protect entire system. He said that a state of unrest prevailed in the country and elections were just around the corner. “The assemblies should complete their term and the elections should be held on time even if someone gets annoyed,” he asserted. He said that the prime minister should consult Army Chief and Chief Justice on prevailing situation in the country and hold an in-camera All Parties Conference. He said that Imran Khan’s one aeroplane had gone but another was ready to come.
Referring to PPPP’s Multan public meeting, he said that the PPPP organised a good show in Multan and likewise political activities should continue in the country. He disclosed that he had talked to Mian Nawaz Sharif on NA-149 during his meeting and he assured him that he would run Hashmi’s campaign himself in the constituency.
Hashmi said that December 16th was the darkest day of Pakistan’s history and East Pakistan separated from us due to our mistakes. He added that Peshawar tragedy also took place on December 16th and it was regrettable that we failed to protect our children. He said that terrorism incidents were still taking place in different parts of the country and we could not say confidently that we could safeguard our children as yet.
