Peace committee member killed in Bajaur blast

BAJAUR AGENCY -  A member of the pro-government local peace committee was killed in a roadside bomb blast in Bajaur Agency’s Mamond tehsil on Friday, local residents and officials said.

They said that Malik Abdur Rahman was going from his Gat Agra village to nearby vicinity in Mamond tehsil when a roadside bomb detonated near his vehicle.

Officials told that the tribal elder was critically injured in the blast and shifted to the Agency Headquarters Hospital in Khar for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries. According to local residents, the blast took place at around 10am near the Gat Agra, the hilly area of Mamond tehsil, situated some 25 kilometers north-west of Khar, the administrative headquarters of the agency.

After the explosion, local people and personnel of levies force reached at the site of the blast to trace the culprits, but the assailants managed to escape.

Later, a contingent of the security forces also reached the spot and cordoned off the entire area to launch a search operation. No one has claimed responsibility of the blast till filling of this report on late Friday evening.

TWO GUNNED DOWN

Staff Reporter from Kohat adds: Two persons including a child were gunned down and one person sustained injuries here in a village of Muhammadzai. According to details, Saghir Ahmad, son of Jalal Gul, a resident of Ghari Dhodwal told Cantt Police station that he and his son Amir were attending a wedding ceremony at Muhammadzai where Musa Khan, son of Niaz Gul and Mujahid, son of Noor Badshah armed with weapons came and started firing at his son. He said, “My son and a child Aman, son of Waheed Gul both died on the spot while Piayao Noor, son of Nadar Shah sustained injuries.

Police took dead bodies and the injured to Liaqat Memorial Women and Children Hospital after post-mortem and bodies were handed over to the families.

Police claimed that they have arrested one of the accused Musa Khan. Meanwhile, Kohat police recovered a huge quantity of hashish and arrested one person.

 According to details, SHO City Police Station and other policemen were checking vehicles at Tablighi Markaz on Hangu Road when a Suzuki pickup coming from Hangu side was stopped during the checking, police recovered nine kg hashish from a bag and arrested the accused Owais Ali, son of Sabat Ali, resident of Pawendo Khell Orakzai Agency on the charges of smuggling. Police registered an FIR in the City Police Station.
