Cop gunned down in Quetta attack

QUETTA - A police constable was gunned down in Tuesday in a hit-and-run target killing by armed assailants.

“Naseer Ahmed, a police cop, was shot dead by armed attackers at Raisani Road in Quetta when he was going to perform his duty,” said the police, adding, the attackers fled the scene.

Personnel of law-enforcement agencies rushed to the site and shifted the body to hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Cordoning off the area, security men launched search for the culprits.

The funeral prayer of the martyred police cop was offered in Quetta Police Line.

In another terror incident, landmine explosion killed one person while two others sustained injuries in restive Balochistan district of Dera Bugti.

In separate actions, terror plots were thwarted by the security forces in Quetta and Hub.

“A 5 kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted in a suspicious bicycle was successfully defused,” an official of the Bomb Disposal Squad said.

The official told that the remote control bomb was fixed at Sariab Road which has been defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad team and the area has been cleared.

While the Frontier Corps personnel foiling a subversive attempt in Hub recovered a huge cache of arms from the hideout of a proscribed outfit, which was hidden in the mountainous area for terrorists activities.

Balochistan Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai and Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qadus Bizenjo strongly condemned the target killing of a police cop in Quetta.

They ordered the concerned security forces to take concrete measures for averting such sort to terror incidents in future.
