LAHORE - Stopping just short of calling Mian Nawaz Sharif a security risk, the PPP-P President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday accused the PML-N leader of playing with country’s security only for the sake of his political survival.

“We will stop Nawaz Sharif from becoming another Sheikh Mujeebur Rehman”, he remarked while addressing a joint news conference along with PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri who called on him at Bilawal House late Wednesday night.

Zardari believed that Nawaz Sharif could go to any extent to save his politics, also accusing him of deviating from Pakistan ideology.

“Enemy of Pakistan is our enemy”, he said, adding that the PML-N chief was trying to become another Mujeebur Rehman at the cost of country’s security.

He recalled that despite the martyrdom of “Shaheed Bhutto and BB Shaheed”, the PPP never talked of breaking the country. “I raised the slogan of Pakistan Khhappay after BB shaheed was assassinated”, he said.

Zardari further stated that the PPP was a party of martyrs which never went against the country despite all odds. “It is because we respect and love the motherland unlike Sharifs who only respect and protect their power”, he observed.

PPP leader predicted that time for the ouster of present rulers had come. “We will complete our mission [of dismantling the government] through this movement”, he said while talking about the anti-government protest starting from today. He said the coming elections will not be “ROs election” and Sharifs will have to go home this time.

To a question about a possible electoral alliance with the PTI and other parties, Zardari replied by saying that “election alliances are a difficult thing to practice”.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Qadri said: “We will announce the future course of action at the end of tomorrow’s (today) rally keeping in view the government’s response to it”. He said all political leaders will be addressing the gathering from one container. “There would be only one container for all the leaders”, he said.

Asked whether or not the leaders of the PPP and the PTI will be standing on the container at the same time, Qadri replied that it was a not a big issue.

“It may not be possible for Asif Ali Zardari and Imran Khan to be present there at the same time, but surely they would be addressing from the same container”, he maintained.
